Visual Arts Inspirations: People, Places, Things was inspired by the rich possibilities the visual arts present for teaching and learning in early childhood education when teachers think beyond visual arts as being 'activities'. It is then teachers can begin to carefully construct challenging environments that engage children in creative and thought provoking explorations. This DVD is a resource for pre-service teacher education courses and teachers in the field. It is also intended to provoke conversations about the role of the teacher in relation to the visual arts in early childhood education. Through a range of multilayered visual arts experiences, the early childhood centres featured in this DVD highlights how children develop relationships with materials, with people in their community and with places of cultural significance.
