This book will enable New Zealand primary school teachers to plan and teach visual art programmes that reinforce the richness and depth of the arts in the New Zealand Curriculum. Talking with children about art is a major focus of the curriculum document, so Painting my Teacher Blue includes sample lessons on the crucial aspect, along with the work of well known artists. Each unit can be used for classes in a wide range of situations, and adapted for children of any age, illustrations provide some alternative directions for each unit, and/or exemplars of work by which standards can be set. The authors hope that experienced and inexperienced teachers alike will use the ideas in Painting my Teacher Blue to make art an exciting part of their primary classroom programmes.
